There are many stories of how Reiki came into alignment with humanity. I feel connected to this version of the story:
Reiki is an ancient form of healing that had been lost for many years. Doctor Mikao Usui, a deeply spiritual person, set out on a journey to learn all he could about healing. He studied far and wide, in Asia and in America. He returned to Japan after his studies, still seeking a vital component to his healing work.
He went on a spiritual retreat up to Mount Juri Yama in Japan. It is said that he fasted and prayed for twenty-one days. On the twenty-first day, something happened! A powerful healing light appeared in the sky and moved toward him, encompassing him and inhabiting him. This Light Attuned him to Reiki and all its healing power.
He went home and shared Reiki with his family and friends, offering them deep healing. As time progressed, his heart desired to share Reiki openly with whomever needed healing. He moved into the slums of the city and opened a Reiki clinic. There he healed all who came to him.
He began to teach Reiki to those who sought to learn this healing art. He initiated sixteen Reiki Masters so that the Reiki teachings would be preserved and passed along.
From that moment of re-connection, Reiki has spread far and wide offering all who encounter its Light deep and profound healing.
I, too, have been on a search for a powerful spiritual healing technique. Unlike Dr Usui whose search started in the scientific field, my search has always been spiritually based. From the age of eight, I knew that the spiritual realm was where I would live and work. I searched religions for the key to spirituality and healing.
Then, one day while in deep meditation, I received a gift. One of my Spiritual Teachers came to me and offered me Light (white Light and rainbow Light). She told me, “Light is your healing tool.” I accepted the gift of Light and received my invitation to become a Reiki Master and Healer.
I have studied Reiki at The Upper Room Spirituality Center in Neptune, NJ under the direction of Maureen Conroy. I have completed Levels 1-3 training and my Master Training.
